The world of digital art has been permanently transformed by artificial intelligence (AI), which has placed the ability to generate stunning and awe-inspiring visuals within the grasp of everybody. Although this advancement may bring about profound transformations in the art sector, I dare say it could also yield new opportunities for those who embrace this technology.
The forefront of generative AI art is currently being led by revolutionary tools like Midjourney and DALL-E, which are producing innumerable and breathtaking works of art. However, their dominance may be short-lived as hordes of other competitors are rushing to unleash their powerful AI-powered art generators.
Among them, one of the leading platforms that could potentially pose a direct challenge to the current trailblazers is Microsoft’s Bing Image Creator. Following the world’s astonishment with its GPT-4 powered Bing, the OS giant is once again attempting to make a daring move, this time in the world of AI artworks.
Bing Image Creator is Bing search engine’s very own AI-powered art generator, which runs on OpenAI’s DALL-E platform. The tool allows you to produce any type of image by simply describing it. It also incorporates Microsoft-powered perks to bring the most optimum art-generation experience for its users.
Let’s take a look at the interesting features of this promising tool and explore how it could offer distinct advantages that are not available on competitor platforms. Let’s start.
What Can Bing Image Creator Do?
Like Midjourney and DALL-E, Bing Image Creator can generate breathtaking visuals with just text descriptions (prompts) from users. Moreover, you can directly use it inside Bing Chat just by switching the chatbot’s conversational tone to ‘Creative Mode.’
It also features a ‘Surprise Me’ button similar to DALL E-2 that generates random prompts on the search bar. Clicking on these surprise prompts never fails to delight me and even helps me gather ideas for my next artwork.
To provide you with a smooth experience, it also offers prompt crafting tips located just above its homepage. However, if you wish to push the limits of the Image Creator and significantly improve your prompts, you can check out our comprehensive list of 200 prompt keywords to boost your output quality.
Although this list was created specifically for Midjourney, there is no harm in attempting to use them on other AI art generators.
“We’re committed to making AI-generated imagery accessible for all.”
Bing Image Creator
When it comes to free credits, Bing Image Creator offers an initial 25 free boosts to help you test the tool right away. However, it seems to reward long-time users of Microsoft’s search engine, as I received an initial 100 boosts for my account.
If you have depleted all your boosts, you can still use the platform, but it may take longer to generate your artwork. In this regard, I advise you not to be careless in creating prompts, as it could waste your precious boosts. It is best to take your time and craft a well-planned line or chunk of prompts to help the tool bring your imagination to life.
Moreover, it is clear that Microsoft is striving for swift adoption as they have launched the AI art generator for free without pesky waiting lists.
How to Use Bing Image Creator
Bing Image Creator is yet another powerful tool that you can add to your expanding collection of AI art generators. Whether you are an AI enthusiast, a newbie digital artist, or a professional who sells digital artwork, its user-friendly platform is ideal for you.
Note: Prior to following this brief guide, please ensure that you have already created your Microsoft account, as you will need it to access the image creator. If you have not done it yet, please go to the provided link to set up your account. As always, if you are all set, let’s continue.
Use It For Art Inspiration
Bing Image Creator provides quick tips on how to create your initial set of prompts within the platform, such as including the time of the day and emotions. You can also examine its sample AI-generated artworks and view the prompts that created them by hovering your mouse.
Another method to spark your inspiration is to click on the ‘Surprise’ button, which generates random prompts that may encourage you to begin with a specific art genre. It also offers prompt creation tips while you are generating an artwork, similar to DALL-E 2!
These features can aid you in setting your artistic mood and provide inspiration for the type of art you wish to generate. As they say, one spark is all you need to ignite your boundless imagination. And guess what? You have all the spark you need right within the platform!
Enter Your Winning Prompts!
Utilize what you have learned from the Creator’s tips to create your initial prompt on the platform. You can also try testing the prompts you have utilized on other AI art generators and observe how Bing reproduces these instructions.
Note: Each generated set of images is equivalent to one (1) boost.
One potential challenge with this tool is its occasional difficulty following prompts, as shown by the image above. Despite my explicit instruction to generate a ‘chess King piece,’ it also created two Knight pieces, which I did not include in my prompt. The tool’s confusion in adhering to specific instructions could potentially waste your valuable boosts.
Share, Save or Download Your Image
Out of the four images it has generated, click the best one to access the buttons for sharing, saving, or downloading your output. You can also offer feedback to help the Bing team further enhance its AI art generator.
How Much Does It Cost
Bing Image Creator is currently available for free, but the volume of your art generation heavily relies on your available boosts. But when your boosts are depleted, you can always utilize your existing Microsoft rewards to replenish your spent credits.
What is Microsoft Reward?
Microsoft rewards are points that you accumulate by spending time within Microsoft’s ecosystem and completing specific tasks. These activities include using Bing for your search, completing puzzles, checking daily quotes and weather, saving tabs, and more.
Each task has a corresponding point value, and new activities are rolled out regularly to provide users with ongoing opportunities to earn points. If you are a long-time Bing user or have been using it for several months, you have the advantage of replenishing your boost (credits) multiple times with your accumulated points.
Can I Use My AI Images for Commercial Purposes?
As per Microsoft’s Terms of Use, you are not permitted to use the generated AI images from Bing Image Creator for commercial purposes. However, you may use them for personal use as long as they are lawful.
