Degenerate Drop Bears (DDB) is the latest NFT collection in the Degeniverse, comprising 2,500 small yet fierce-looking koalas. Each was once an egg living in the trees of the Dingus Forest, but all grew beautifully with different traits that made them individually unique.

Like other collections in the Degeniverse, DDB’s traits fall under different rarity levels: common, uncommon, rare, super rare, and mythic. For example, Wraith and Lava furs belong to the rare class, while Snow Leopard and Gold are labeled super rare.

If their adorable looks activate your inner degen mode, you can collect them on secondary marketplaces. If you want to learn how to buy NFTs on Magic Eden or Solanart, click on any of the links.
Art Revamp
Monoliff encountered difficulties finalizing the character that would be born from the eggs. His initial plan was to create a kid version of the Degenerate Ape Academy (DAA) NFTs, which looks like this:

However, the community had a mixed reaction to the egg art reveal, pushing him to remember the team’s original goal: to provide holders the value they deserve. After all, they’re a brand that aims to build long-term.
All his efforts didn’t come to waste, as he was able to bounce back and bring greater art—the Degenerate Drop Bears.
The Bathroom Breeding Event
Who would’ve thought that the bathroom breeding event would pave the way for the birth of DDB? It was kind of unusual, but anything is possible in the NFT space.
The bathroom breeding event entitled The Great Ape Gang Bang requires DAA NFTs. The first round was free and exclusively for twins, which are DAA NFTs with the same metadata. In fact, there were also triplets and quadruplets. But regardless of the number, they’re still called twins.
As the twins entered the bathroom stall, holders had to wait for roughly a week to give them time. Once finished, each gave birth to an inbred egg. The second round was for the rest of the Degen Apes who wanted to join the event, which cost 0.69 SOL, but there were two possible results: a poop or a normal egg.
It’s also worth noting that the egg color corresponds to the fur color of the Ape. As the team distributed them randomly, the chances of holders receiving them were based on two factors: the number of Apes that entered the bathroom stall and the available eggs.
For example, if 15 zombie apes joined the breeding event and six zombie eggs were only available, then six holders received an egg, while nine got nothing.
In total, all Apes produced 2,500 inbred and normal eggs.
Degen Egg
Collectors can easily distinguish the inbred eggs of twins from the normal eggs of Apes just by looking at them. Inbred eggs have numerous spots covering their rough shells, while regular eggs have smooth surfaces.

Each degen egg has eight attributes: background, egg color, mouth, nose, eyes, skin type, sequence, and generation. Initially, holders didn’t get a clue about what their DDBs would look like before they hatched.
Hatchening
The hatchening soon came, but the owners became unstoppable in sharing their sentiments as they bid goodbye to the eggs’ first form. Some even shook their eggs and gave them a few crayons to eat; it was the way others formed their bond after a few months of being together.
Eventually, the eggs hatched into Degenerate Drop Bears and Monoliff’s sleepless nights finally paid off.
The Epic Eggs
The team has not yet revealed all information pertaining to DDB, and there are still some eggs on various marketplaces waiting to be hatched. One type drop seems to generate a lot of interest: the crate boxes.

The crate boxes contain more epic eggs, with only a few known traits: content, nails, and wood. They’re also expensive, as they came from DAA’s auction booth.
Do the epic eggs hold something different? Yes, and we’re waiting to see the Elder Drop Bears, which potentially knows some secrets of the Degeniverse. For now, the only thing left is to wait for the surprises to reveal themselves in time.
