With over 121K discord members and 112K Twitter followers in a span of two weeks, Trippin’ Ape Tribe has quickly established itself as one of Solana‘s most coveted NFT projects, with hordes of degens gunning for its limited whitelist spots (WL), indicative of a future bidding frenzy when it launches, similar to what happened with Okay Bears.
Despite having no mint price or launch date announced, its Discord server, which is currently open to the public, is filled with enthused members vibing, having fun, and educating each other. The multiple chat channels are always moving due to the sheer number of people, with Discord’s Slow Mode barely helping to curb the enthusiasm displayed.
Why NFT Degens Are Fighting Over the Chance to Buy Trippin’ Apes
Trippin Ape Tribe has several qualities that make it stand out. Firstly, the artwork is phenomenally trippy, displaying colorful psychedelic traits like mushrooms, LSDs, and rainbow puke with funky-looking apes as a base.
Its branding is on point and remains consistent in every aspect of the project. For instance, its leading founder actually named himself Chorles, parodying renowned biologist Charles Darwin. Interestingly, Chorles gives off a mysterious scholarly vibe, and his disciples (the rest of the founders and team) speak very highly of him.
In the lore, Chorles was one of the alpha apes on a certain island who stumbled upon a stash of psychedelic substances, then disappeared for months only to come back enlightened, and seeking to recruit fellow apes for his so-called Clinical Trials.
Users who are selected for the Clinical Trials will have the ability to mint a Trippin’ Ape during launch, while in the lore they become enlightened. Hence, more than 100k NFT degens are fighting over a spot in the Clinical Trials in order to acquire the role of Trial Subject, which makes them eligible for a WL spot.
The team, which has been doxxed, consists of members of some of the top projects in the Solana NFT space, including DeGods, Cets on Creck, Stoned Apes, and even Okay Bears.
How to Acquire the Trial Subject (WL) Role
There are currently two ways to become a Trial Subject. One is to create fan art or memes and post them on Twitter. Note that you need to share the link of your tweet on the Trippin’ Ape Discord server.
The other way, which is more prevalent in other projects too, is to simply be an active, positive, and helpful member of the Trippin’ Apes Community. This involves regularly chatting with people on Discord, educating the newcomers (there are lots of them coming every day), and just simply vibing.
You’ll know you’ve been chosen once you see the Trial Subject (WL) role on your server profile.
Upcoming Launch in May
Trippin’ Ape Tribe has partnered with Hydra Launchpad to power the minting of its collection of 8,888 apes, to be deployed on the NFT project’s personalized site, according to one of its co-founders. While no hard dates have been set, the source estimates that it will likely occur in “mid-late May”.
To avoid missing significant updates, it is recommended to follow Trippin’ Ape Tribe’s on Twitter and Discord.
Note that non-whitelisted participants will not likely be able to mint as the spots for the public sale will likely be low while the demand is extremely high. However, Trippin’ Apes will be available on secondary marketplaces like Magic Eden.
