Top-Tier Metaverse Otherside Boasts Amazing Gameplay Leak

Gamers and NFT enthusiasts (I know you guys aren’t always mutually exclusive) get ready for the next phase of the Otherside – a revolutionary new metaverse being developed by Yuga Labs.

Powered by M², a powerful network capable of supporting over 10,000 players in a single space and handling over 500M operations per second, The Otherside will allow users to bring their non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to life as avatars and explore, interact, and have a blast with friends.

The web3 company showcased leaks of Second Trip in a press release today, and fans can’t curb their enthusiasm.

What Are the NFT Holders Saying?

Twitter user @therealtblake expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying “Loved the scope and ambition of the game. March can’t come soon enough.” Another user named @salvonft, who happens to hold an Otherdeed land, also shared his excitement:

I got goosebumps. Ready af for the second trip. I may snipe some other lands.

Another Otherdeed holder also praised the team’s vision, saying “You’re building an open-source gaming engine for the future. I’m here for it.” It’s clear that players are eagerly anticipating the launch, which is expected to come in late March 2023.

Bring Your NFTs to Life as Playable Avatars

The Otherside is more than just a game – it’s a digital world where players can bring their NFTs to life as avatars and explore, interact, and have a blast with friends. Think VRChat meets World of Warcraft.

In the first phase of the project, nearly 5,000 concurrent users joined Curtis and Blue (Bored Ape characters) on their journey through the metaverse in First Trip.

But the Second Trip will be no small feat, as it requires complex technical innovations to ensure that NFT avatars of all shapes, sizes, and specifications are fully supported. Note that users who hold NFTs owned by Yuga, such Bored Apes and Mutant Apes, Crypto Punks, The Meebits, as well as NFTs from partner projects will soon be able to connect their web3 wallets to the game and start playing as their NFT avatar.

Not only can the pfp NFTs grow legs, but flying will also be introduced as a feature.

But The Otherside isn’t just about avatars – it’s also about creating a world that players can shape and customize to their liking. That’s why the team is working on in-game building tools that will allow players of all skill levels to express themselves and create their own unique environments.

There will be a suite of tools available in the Otherside Development Kit (ODK) to build and customize unique avatars.

And with support for AI and physics, The Otherside promises to offer an incredibly immersive and realistic experience.

    The New A-Team for Otherside

There have been major additions to the ranks of Yuga Labs. Spencer Tucker, former President of Games at Scopely, has joined The Otherside as Chief Gaming Officer. He’s brought with him a talented team that has worked on major franchises like Medal of Honor, Disney Infinity, and Lord of the Rings.

And in the coming year, Yuga will be welcoming none other than Daniel Alegre, formerly the COO of Activision Blizzard, as Yuga’s new CEO. This might be a monumental stage for the company, as Alegre has worked on some of the top MMORPG franchises that ever launched, including World of Warcraft and Diablo. His expertise is expected to help to push the boundaries of what’s possible for The Otherside.

The Otherside is also being supported by Improbable, a multi-national tech company with a seasoned team that has contributed to popular games like League of Legends and Call of Duty. It is currently working on the underlying mechanism for The Otherside, as well as web3 tooling for the M2 network.

So mark your calendars, gamers – The Otherside is coming soon, and it’s set to bridge the gap between gaming and web3.
